In development of my project, I have identified a single minded proposition to capture the essence of my project. I decided on the word connection as my main goal for the project is to renew the connection Irish children have with the mythology of Ireland. With my single minded proposition, I developed expressive typography of the word. In this type I have shown the last 'n' slightly detached from the rest of the word this is visually illustrate the need for Irish children to reconnect to this important element of their history and culture.
Diverse Approaches
As I am in the ideation phase of my project, I am analysing potential creative approaches for my final output. I have been exploring three different pathways for my final product.
The safe approach - A safe output would be creating an illustrated version of one of the stories. There is an already existing market for Irish mythology books for kids and so it would most likely go down well. However, I do feel that it would not create as much of an impact within my target audience as I am aiming for.
The risky and creative approach - My idea for this approach would be to design and develop an Irish mythology based board game. This would include playable pieces of the characters and mythological objects. I am imagining that the game will focus on collecting different mythological objects from around the board.
The fantastical, imaginative approach - For my third approach, I have 2 seperate ideas. The first is to develop a complete illustrated encyclopedia of Irish mythological characters and objects. Unfortunately, I don't think I would have enough time to fully realise this concept with the time I have left in the semester. My second approach is to produce a collector card game showcasing the Irish mythological characters. These cards would be available on a national level. They would essentially work like Match Attax.
